Static Water Penetration Test

A test simulating severe weather conditions on a roofing system. Conducted by the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA), it's purpose is to determine what is to be expected of a roofing system if it were to be subjected to high winds and rapidly changing exterior pressure. Conducted in a controlled environment, the ultimate goal is to determine the level of uncontrolled water infiltration.

Dynamic Water Penetration Test

A test simulating a rainstorm conditions on a roofing system. Conducted by the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA), it's purpose is to determine what is to be expected of a roofing system if it were to be subjected to wind loading and water exposure. Conducted in a controlled environment, water is applied to the sample and a high wind slipstream is added. The ultimate goal is to determine the level of uncontrolled water infiltration.
